|Day 2||Friday, 7/27/2018 - Lauterbrunnen / Wengen |
Arrive in Zurich, board our coach and travel through the Swiss landscape past sparkling lakes. Stop in the capital city, Bern, to see the Rose Gardens & Glockenspiel. Then, it's up into the massive Swiss Alps. The scenery is increasingly spectacular as you arrive in Lauterbrunnen, with its towering cliffs. Then, travel by cog-rail up to the enchanting alpine village of Wengen for 6 nights (altitude 4,800').
|Day 3||Saturday, 7/28/2018 - Interlaken / Lake Cruise |
Enjoy a day trip to Interlaken with its mile-long shopping district filled with woolens, lace, and watches. Ride the vintage cog railway up to Schynige Platte for an incredible view (altitude 6,800'). Later, sail on a lake steamer across Lake Brienz. In Brienz, visit the Jobin Wood Carving School, or take a ride on the Rothorn steam train for a view of the lakes. Later, board Swiss Rail back to Lauterbrunnen, then cog rail up to Wengen.
|Day 4||Sunday, 7/29/2018 - Grindelwald / Jungfrau |
Free morning or optional rail up to the Jungfraujoch Mountain at 11,133 feet (due to high altitude, we have not included this trip and it is at an extra cost). This afternoon, we will all go via cog railway to Grindelwald for shopping. Continue on to “First Summit” via what was once Europe's longest cable car (altitude 7,600') for spectacular views. Then, return to Wengen via the Mannlichenbahn cable car.
|Day 5||Monday, 7/30/2018 - Schwarzwald / Reichenbach |
Ride the train down to Interlaken and cruise Lake Thun to Grindelwald to board a PTT bus for an excursion over the Grosse Scheidegg to Schwarzwaldalp. Later, arrive in Merrigan to visit famous Reichenbach Falls (where Sherlock Holmes met his match in Professor Moriarty). Then, ride the Swiss Rail from Merrigen along Lake Brienz and back to Wengen. What a fabulous day!
|Day 6||Tuesday, 7/31/2018 - Lauterbrunnen Valley |
Board the cograil for an excursion to the glacier-carved Lauterbrunnen Valley. Board a PTT bus for Trummelbach Falls. Go inside the mountain and see how the falls have carved incredible caves. Next, take the cable car to Gimmelwald, then to Murren for free time. Ride the funicular up to Allmendhubel (altitude 6,200') for the view, or take the optional Schilthorn cable car up to the “top of the world” and setting for a James Bond movie (altitude 9,700').
|Day 7||Wednesday, 8/1/2018 - Free Time / Matterhorn Optional |
Today, the July tour will include special Swiss Confederation Day holiday activities in town. Enjoy free time, or join the optional day trip to the Matterhorn. Travel to the ski resort of Zermatt. Choose to ride to the ice world of Klein Matterhorn (altitude 12,780’). From there, up to the “Gipfel-lift” (subject to weather) is an exceptional 360º view. Explore the glacier grotto, “Gletschergrotto.” Then, stroll & shop in town, or visit the Matterhorn Museum. Return after a long but very rewarding day. Reserve this option at booking +$85 pp.

Descend on the now familiar cog-rail train. Board your private motorcoach and travel to Lucerne. See the Lion’s Monument and Chapel Bridge. Continue on to Zurich for the night and your Farewell Dinner.

Coach to the Zurich airport and fly home.
